have you ever had a dream or goal that you waited and worked for blow up in your face? or thought you had it all figured out only to discover you’re actually not in control at all? 

queue every cliché Christian IG post about “man plans his course but the Lord determines his steps,” because in a sharrrppp turn of events your girl is heading back to DC in order to not lose her job 🫠.

the past few weeks have made me consider Langston Hughes’ “Dream Deferred” quite a bit. if i’m honest, several days have felt like a crushing blow + heavy load i’m not equipped to carry. i’m not sure if my dream of moving west will shrivel up, be a constant nag, or completely explode. it may be delayed and it may completely come to fruition in a way i didn’t think possible. the place i’ve landed on (and i assume Langston did, too) is I DON’T KNOW. 

but thank you, Jesus, that you do. 

the biggest blessing from this shift is that i’m heading to a community of people who remind me that God will not let me down. he can’t because he is holy (shoutout @jackiehillperry - i’m reading + learning). so i’m going to choose to trust. i’m letting go of my “plans” (again lol). and i’m not letting the devil get a second of satisfaction by doubting or losing hope. 

every season in life is just that — a season. dc 2.0 is up soon and i’m jumping back in thankful as ever to know who will be there when i pull up. strap in, kids, Lord only knows what’s next! 🤷🏼‍♀️😝🙃🫣🤭🫨😆
