For the 100th Birthday of Civil Rights activist, Clara Shepard Luper, Prairie Surf Media in partnership with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, KOCO, The Freedom Center, and The Oklahoma Historical Society & Oklahoma History Center bring you: “Because You Sat, I Stand.”

Everywhere you look in Oklahoma City and the state, you see and feel the lasting impact of Ms. Luper’s legacy. Her resilience, courage, and faith ignited a movement and forever changed the hearts and minds of generations. 

This video is filled with individuals who know Ms. Luper personally and those who live in a world forevermore changed by the continued fight she inspired. We extend our deepest gratitude to every participant. 

It is our distinct honor and privilege to share, with you, the video that premiered at her centennial concert.
