George Romero, the 1960 Carnegie Mellon University graduate who redefined horror films, passed away yesterday at the age of 77. His 1978 film "Dawn of the Dead" brought the Pittsburgh area to the big screen long before Batman, flooding the Monroeville Mall with ghoulish zombies and corn syrup blood.
