Carrying the load: Pine-Richland High School freshman Noah Plaza, 15, of Boy Scout Troop 81, wears his father’s helmet as he arrives at the Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Cemetery in West View. Noah was wearing the helmet in honor of his father Jose Plaza, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Gulf War and Somalia. The march was part of a national program called Carry the Load, started by a former Navy SEAL five years ago aimed at “restoring the true meaning of Memorial Day.”
