In honor of #NationalComingOutDay, we want to celebrate and support those who have come out as LGBTQ+. Recognizing that coming out is powerful tool, we also recognize everyone who may not have the privilege to come out. Furthermore, we have had conversations with some members of our greater Rutgers community reflecting on their experiences through open letters 🌟

"Dear YOU,

Yes, YOU!  I HONOR YOU and CELEBRATE YOU.  I see you, feel you, and I love you. 

“Coming out” is actually one of the most revolutionary personal acts of sharing and/or welcoming others (IN)to your life. 

Sharing with others is ACTivism. 
Sharing with others is scary.
Sharing with others is defiant.
Sharing with others can be very JOY-filled.
Sharing with others is risky and potentially unsafe.
Sharing with others can be ________________.
Sharing with others should never be a negative experience, yet it is often one that invokes a lot of stress and anxiety. 

Life changes when we share OVER AND OVER AND OVER again (because coming out is not a 1 time share). 
Today, remember that you are already living.  Make a daily decision to live in unlimited FREE-dom no matter what.  Love in its pureness.  Focus on the other side of your authenticity. 

Dream about the possibilities of being received, cared for, protected, and supported.  You are not alone.  Allowing others to know who you are is both a privilege to them and an unmatched liberty for you that is emotionally, mentally, and spiritually revolutionary. 

Resist the ideals of a “closeted life” and move into the beauty of representation for your younger and future self.  Therein houses the reward of truth, honesty, and resilience.  Losing something or someone only makes room for the abundance of love to arrive from people and spaces that champion the evolution of your life.

You are YOU, and YOU are who we want to see thrive.  I got your back!"
