OPRAH WINFREY and DWAYNE JOHNSON don't just talk the talk. The pair asks for donations to help those affected by the Maui wildfires. To kick it off, they donated $10 million.⁠

Oprah and TheRock wrote in their recent Instagram post that they are “honored to start this campaign with $10 million and ask for your help in donating to those who have lost their homes” ⁠to PeoplesFundofMaui⁠

The initial donation to the The People's Fund of Maui will go through the Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation. ⁠

Winfrey and Johnson explained in their post that displaced residents from Lahaina will be eligible to receive $1,200 monthly to “help them through this period of recovery.” Affected residents can go to the People’s Fund of Maui website to apply for aid.⁠

The uncontrollable fires spread across Hawaii after dry conditions and strong winds passing through the state from Hurricane Dora ignited the blaze in early August. As of this writing, 115 deaths due to the wildfires have been confirmed.⁠
