Meet Martha, the very last passenger pigeon. Today marks the 109th anniversary of her death and with that, the extinction of her entire species. 

Before they were driven to extinction, 4 billion of these elegant birds soared over the United States. Passenger pigeons were fast and beautiful flyers whose twisting columns of hundreds of thousands once decorated American skies.

Sadly, that's something we'll never witness again. But while we can't save passenger pigeons, we can save other species from experiencing the same fate. Visit www.savinglifeonearth.org to help us halt the extinction crisis.
