I played college football when players could not make money from their name, image, and likeness.

So how much money would I have made if I played college football today?

Let’s find out.

So for my first year at Penn State, we actually have a pretty solid comparable data point here with Andrew Rappleyea a freshman tight end.

On3 says he can make 118K in a year.

We’re going to say I throw my buddy Hack in some of my branded content freshman year and juice this up to $145K.

The next year I’m injured, but I’m probably still cashing in on the freshman All-American hype. We’ll say I string a few deals together to make $50K.

Now we’re onto my transfer to UMass.

This is where things are going to go off the rails.

I was good at UMass, but I did not bring the Johnny Manziel economic impact to The Zoo. It was still UMass football, and I think I might actually make less as the best player at UMass, than I would as an injured player on Penn State.

We’re going to say I make $25K in my junior year.

Then for my final year at UMass, maybe I figure a few deals out on my own to bump that number all the way up to $45K.

Some real precise equations and calculations to get these numbers.

I know.

But in total I would have made $265K from NIL in my college football career.
