Spanish soccer star Sergio Ramos has made an emotional return to his boyhood club Sevilla – 18 years after he left the club as a teenager.⁠
The defender went on to win everything there is to win in soccer during a trophy-laden career with Real Madrid before enjoying a short stay with Paris Saint-Germain and coming back to his "home" on a one-year deal.⁠
“Hi sevillistas, today is a very special day for me. Very emotional. Finally, I return home and I’m wishing for that moment to come when I can feel the Sevilla shirt and put that badge on my chest once again,” the 37-year-old said in a video posted by the club.⁠
“I think I didn’t just owe myself, I also owed my family, my grandfather – who made me a sevillista since I was little – my father, and well, from now on, I think it doesn’t make sense to go another path or take another direction that wasn’t coming back home,” the World Cup winner added.⁠
Ramos could make his debut following the international break when Sevilla faces Las Palmas at the Sánchez Pizjuan stadium in Seville.⁠
