My latest band fan art is last minute as always and experimenting with a new technique of mixing blending and cell shading totally wasn’t to save time haha but I am actually super proud of how this one turned out!!!
My very first metal concert two years ago was headlined by butcherbabies , obviously it kickstarted a whole obsession haha. I was really excited to draw this for my third time seeing them, this time opening for the legendary Mudvayne.
I always like to sprinkle in as many song references as I can and often the piece comes out looking completely different than my original vision, but not this one. After cycling through a couple of ideas, I decided to focus in on two songs: “Red Thunder” and “Last December”. I was very deliberate about building the piece around each of these two songs and incorporating references to specific lyrics from them, plus I felt like they lent themselves perfectly to being a set with a contrasting color scheme and a meaningful story behind each one. The final product was actually pretty close to my original plan for the piece!
Anyway the show was killer as always, I had an awesome time on the Butcher Babies bus (and winning at Butcher Bingo!! 😜) and had the honor of meeting liltokiwartooth who is such a sweet girl ❤️
