## Caption

If you're a wild #mammal in southeastern New Hampshire, how are you adapting to increasing development? It depends,unhwild colsa.unh and nh_aes researchers find. They spied on #bobcats, #coyotes, #foxes and others with 104 motion-activated cameras and discovered that mammals’ behavior was changing, but in different ways. 

“Some species, like the white-tailed #deer, reduced their overall activity in exurban areas in the winter but not in the summer,” says Mairi Poisson, a graduate student and lead author of the study published in the Journal of Urban Ecology. Bobcats became more nocturnal, while fishers became less so. 

“Changes in activity behavior could be an early warning signal for future population declines,” says Remington Moll, assistant professor of natural resources and the environment.
