## Caption

I just realized that I made prints of this without ever posting it! So happy #TonyStarkTuesday - caption is gonna be a long one. This work is well over a year old now but is definitely one of my favorites and has a lot of meaning behind it. I created it in the first place after seeing Shang Chi, which was so damn good, but left me wanting a brown superhero even more than I typically do. Having representation in Hollywood is something beyond important to me since it’s something I rarely had growing up, and I’m so happy that young Asian and black kids will get to have Black Panther and Shang Chi as role models and icons to look up too. However, I couldn’t help but wish there was a South Asian equivalent. I knew that Ms. Marvel was slated to come out later that year, but a TV show, no matter how great it is, doesn’t get the same fanfare and isn’t as accesible as a movie (side note: I loved Ms. Marvel and thought that Disney+ did an absolutely incredible job with her, especially with the integration of partition history). So, since it’s well know that I’m a Tony Stark stan, I created my own brown superhero by combining the Indian flag 🇮🇳 with my favorite Avenger. I also painted it only using primary colors that I mixed instead of using premade green and orange. In comic books, especially the older ones, superheroes are almost always depicted in primary colors while villains are secondary colors. Since the Indian flag is secondary colors, mixing the colors was my way of ensuring that this version of Iron Man was still a superhero (even though he’s kinda a war criminal). Originally, I just planned on painting Iron Man’s original suit but in orange and green with the Indian chakra as his arc reactor. I absolutely hated how that turned out and painted over it with a different concept, which I could not be happier with! Thanks for reading if you made it this far and drop an orange or green heart if you did :)
