In honor of #worldoceansday, and as part of our commitment to protect the home we share, UnderArmour has been partnering with chesapeakebayfoundation to foster baby oysters at our Global Headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland since October of 2022.

The Chesapeake Bay watershed weaves together rivers, streams, and communities across 64,000 square miles. The Bay is approximately 200 miles from its headwaters in the Susquehanna River to its outlet in the Atlantic Ocean. More than 18 million people, along with 3,600 species of plants and animals, call it home. Oysters are the Chesapeake Bay's best natural filters. They also provide essential habitat for fish and other Bay creatures. Unfortunately, today's oyster population is estimated at only two percent of its original level. The Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Oyster Gardening Program provides the opportunity to help bring back this vital species by growing oysters alongside docks. Once grown, the adult oysters are returned to the Bay for planting on sanctuary reefs.

Yesterday, members of our Teammate Resource Group ‘Green Machine’ moved the oysters from our Baltimore HQ to their permanent home at Fort Carroll Island in the Chesapeake Bay. 

We are pleased to report that #UnderArmour delivered 18,750 oysters to help #savethebay!
