Bangkok is by far the most popular place to visit in Thailand, granted that there’s a 90% chance that you’re flying into Suvarnabhumi Airport 🇹🇭

I’ve spent a couple of months traveling throughout Thailand and although every province and city had a different charm and beauty to it, the most unique (and my favorite) place to visit was📍Ban Rak Thai

Located in Mae Hong Son province with a population of only 1,800 people, Ban Rak Thai is known as the “Chinese Village” in Thailand. Not only will you find the best tea here, but you’ll also come across a lot of Thai locals who also speak in Chinese since it’s so close to the border. Plus, seeing red lanterns in every corner makes you feel like you’re not even in Thailand.

How to get there? 🚙
I flew into Pai, rented a car, and drove 8 hours (solo). Do I recommend the drive? Well, if you’re up for an adventure, have enough caffeine, and have someone else helping you, then yes. The drive wasn’t the easiest (and kind of scary) but I was determined to see the village with my own eyes :’)

How long to stay? 🏡
I personally spent an evening and it was more than enough time. You don’t need more than 1.5 days in Ban Rak Thai.

Where to stay? 🏨
Lee Wine Oak Thai Resort. This resort is located on beautiful green pastures, and you’ll be located in the center of everything.

Where to eat? 🍜
Steps away from the resort is Lee Wine Yannan Restaurant. You’ll have great views of the lake and have amazing, traditional Yunnan food. It’s a Thai and Chinese fusion, and you’ll miss out if you don’t try it yourself!

Ban Rak Thai is extremely small and you don’t need a lot of time exploring the area. But if you’re looking for the best hidden gems in Thailand, this is definitely one of them.

Is visiting Ban Rak Thai on your Thailand bucket list? 🇹🇭🏮
