For this week’s story of #HowWeMetAtRU, we have @danig327 & @garrettstepien ✨

"Timing is everything. Because when we first 'met' — if you can really call it that — nothing materialized. We were taking American Presidency — a Rutgers political science course — with hundreds of other students in a lecture hall on College Ave, and both sat with a mutual friend in the same row, but that’s not where our relationship formed. 

A year later, in the fall of 2016, Garrett left a party at his fraternity house and headed to the Easton Ave bars. Standing out front on the sidewalk while leaving the same gathering, I recognized Garrett from class. What could’ve been a 'hi' and 'bye' turned into an all-night conversation on the front porch. The rest was history. 

Rutgers brought us to each other and to our best friends! Since graduating, we have endured a long-distance pandemic, moved in together in Jersey City, became Rutgers football season ticket holders, and most recently, have gotten engaged. Thanks to Rutgers, we’ll tie the knot surrounded by our friends and family in Cancun, Mexico, next year!"
