The Air Jordan 2 is my favorite signature Jordan model. I’ve told the story before, but just in case some of you haven’t heard it, here it is again:

I greet up in a place that isn’t know for sneakers. We had a small footlocker in our mall, eventually close shop, and they were the only exposure I had to seeing any sneaker irl. I knew what Jordan models I liked thanks to Eastbay catalogs coming in the mail. I always hoped some of them would show up at our footlocker, but they never did. When basketball season rolled around my junior year of high school, I went into that footlocker to get my hoop shoe for that season. On the wall were 2 pairs of Jordan 2s. The black and silver highs, and the all white lows with the maize logo on the tongue. 

I was hyped to see them and even more hyped to get them. 

Since then, the AJ2 has been special to me. 

Not because they were/are hyped. Not because they are worth thousands. The resonated with me and connect me to my younger years.

Each Sunday I share pairs of sneakers that I personally find amazing. They aren’t hyped, and often are cheap to pick up. I do this to shed light on what sneaker culture is about: A personal connection with footwear, that has nothing to do with popularity or resell value. Do it for you, not them. ✌️
