With change happening at warp speed, project leaders need teams that can pivot quickly and seamlessly. So, what are the best ways to build—and sustain—agility? Here are three pro tips straight from the community:

1. Make collaboration part of the organizational DNA. “Agility is a way to resolve challenges. One of the efficient ways to have the team connect and maintain flexibility in our projects is collaboration,” says Susana Molina, PMP, chief data officer, LATAM project management office at Veolia in Madrid. “We can achieve better results collectively than individually.”

2. Forge a sense of urgency to empower teams. “Being agile is a demonstration of talent and intelligence. It should not be seen as stressful, but rather a trigger for being efficient to support the business,” says Marc Burlereaux, PMI-RMP, PMP, PgMP, program and delivery manager at Syncordis in Geneva. “Empower team members to make sure they feel like a key stakeholder in the solution.”

3. Put people first. “Understand the motivation and change style of each team member,” says Carla Catalano, PMP, principal project manager at Microsoft in Santiago. “Some of us enjoy predictability while others can live with an intermediate approach where clarity and uncertainty are balanced.”
