The Rafters are proud to announce our new field manager for the 2021 season, Kirk Shrider!

Shrider assisted Craig Noto, the winningest manager in Rafters’ history, over the last two summers, previously served as the field manager for the then Green Bay Bullfrogs over the 2018 season, coached in the Western Baseball Association and Gold Coast collegiate league, and is a former scout for the Milwaukee Brewers.

“I am extremely honored to have been asked by ownership and management to replace Coach Noto as the new field manager for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. I would like to personally thank the entire Fonti Family as well as General Manager Andy Francis and his staff for this opportunity.” said Shrider.

Shrider will be joined by the Rafters’ new associate head coach, John Hamala.

John Halama returns to the Rapids, where he was the pitching coach in 2015 and the 2016 Northwoods League championship season. Halama most recently, was the pitching coach for the AZL Padres, the rookie ball affiliate of the San Diego Padres.

Halama is a former MLB pitcher. He played for seven teams over nine seasons. With the Seattle Mariners, Halama posted a 4.22 ERA in 1999 and 14 wins in 2000, both career bests.
