Strength. It usually isn’t what you see on the outside. In this case it was. This is one of the things I’m most proud of: a few years of dedication and hard work to deadlift and all-time best. 3️⃣0️⃣3️⃣ lbs. Something I never thought possible.

👏🏻And that day, I made it look easy.👏🏻

Dayuuuum. Okay girl. Go then. Take your dance at the end. 💁🏼‍♀️🪩

I’m RIDICULOUSLY proud of that accomplishment and what it took to get there. Consistent HARD work. Commitment. Dedication. Grit. Belief. FAILURE. Practice. Habit changes. Hard choices. Easy ones. Wonder Woman Converse. SWEAT. Literal blood (sometimes calluses have had enough and break - don’t we all?). REST. Injury. Patience. And so on.

What you didn’t see? Gym sessions I cried at because training at that intensity digs up some old shit, reveals new shit, and like Superman opening his shirt to reveal the giant S, reveals one’s heart and vulnerability. At least it did for me.

I’m still struggling with the outer strength I’ve lost in the five years since this day. It frustrates me. For a multitude of reasons I couldn’t continue training at that level. And yet, I’m so thankful I was able to if even just for a season in my life. What a gift.

It taught me so much about myself, and that my strength and grit is not lost. It just looks different. So maybe I’ll never be able to deadlift 303lbs again, but I’ll always be able to say I did. I’ll always be able to carry a loaded bar of life’s shit - and know I can handle it. I’ll always know I’m capable of more than I gave myself credit for. I’ll always know that when shit is really, really heavy - I can also set it down, and rest.

And that is a PR I don’t need to break. I’d be okay with less of life’s shit on the bar. But if it gets loaded, I’ll set myself up for the proper lift, I’ll remember to take a deep breath and brace, and I’ll carry it however far I have to, until it’s time to set it down. 💪🏻
