Day 4 of #50toFifty. 
The way the leaves rustle in the wind. The sound of the distant bird. The drip of the dew in the early morning hours. The tiny bud forming on the nearest flower. The ant trying to pull its prey, a bee, into the tiny crevice between the step and the sidewalk. The drops from a recent rainfall, resting on the leaves of perennials. Voices carrying from backyards across the meadow. Giggles of a child. The rhythmic chime a dog’s tags make when it picks up its pace on a walk. The way the shadows dance across my living room walls. The reflection of a disco ball sharing a thousand rays of light. How their smile doesn’t reach their eyes. The tightness of a hug. Abundant joy that spills out when they laugh. 

To pay attention to the less obvious. In the stillness, between the noise and the hustle. The brilliance and beauty of the mundane, the every day things, that we often miss when in a hurry. And we are so often, ‘in a hurry’. 

As the years pass, I become more of a noticer. I still miss so much. Some days get away from me, with their busyness and bluster. And yet. I see it. The tiny little miracles and light that surround us every day. And the pain and the aching that live inside each of us, every day. Joy and pain are constant companions. Noticing and gratitude pair well too. Together, if we slow down, if we pay attention, if we notice, we will find great compassion. Appreciation for all the tiny ways life can surprise us every day. And a love for ourselves and each other, and the way we truly are all connected. 🌎🤍💫
