Live a life giving love. Live a life shining light. Below is something I wrote one year ago, in honor of a beautiful soul who left this earth far earlier than we wanted. @denisebrockman was light. Pure, joyful light. And really, she still is. And always will be. She created a beautiful legacy. And she still makes me smile.

We are all broken in a thousand different ways.
It’s why we hide or hurt.

It’s why we deliver pain unto others instead of light. Not because we are cruel. But because we are scars that didn’t take the time to heal ourselves in a graceful and kind way.

We have many deep holes and voids filled with darkness. But there are also cracks, ones which can let the light in, Leonard Cohen said.

And there are some who find their way to this Light sooner than the rest of us. Ones who shine bright. Ones whose spirit are always welcoming and accepting. Ones who seem to know the magic secret to living a life giving love. 
And when we lose a beautiful heart that shines like that, it can break us a little more. But it can also give us the opportunity to mine the Light in our own cracks, and shine it for others.

Grief and heartbreak hurt. They settle heavily upon our souls. And they demand to be felt. As they should be. But let us also gently hold the light that resides there. Because it is always there if we seek it. And let us shine it brightly. In her honor. As she did for so many.
