When throughout your life you’ve been judged by some for your appearance, you begin to own their opinion. You start feeling like you never quite measure up, certain you’ll never be enough. I think it’s a battle many of us fight for much of our lives. Taking the opinions of others and wearing it like truth. Except it’s not. It’s not truth. And we don’t need to wear it.

I’ve been slowly undressing the layers of others’ judgements over the last couple years. It’s hard and diligent work. A battle that doesn’t seem to cease. Although I hope it does.
.
A beautiful thing has happened to me over the last four months since starting part time work at @evereveofficial. The “undressing” has happened at a quicker pace. Through a partnership of strong women, graceful hearts, and kick ass fashion, I’ve uncovered myself.
.
I’ve always loved fashion. Trends. The art and expressiveness of it all. But through marriage, divorce, parenting (and at times doing so with a child in crisis), job loss, break ups, health scares and just plain old life ... I lost myself along the way. I became smaller. So. Much. Smaller. And I kept putting on the layers of judgement from others. Wearing them as if I bought them. As if they were designed just for me. Except they weren’t. They were designed by and for each person who ever criticized me. They were measurements of their own self worth. And those measurements were small.

And so I shed. Undress. And find myself. And fashion - something that many view as shallow - has been my muse. Or perhaps more like my blank canvas. A way in which I can express my boldness. My bravery. And my beauty. Yes, my beauty.
.
I’m so grateful for this season in which I’m finding the beauty that’s always been there, but had just been forgotten.
.
Beauties...if you’re in this place wearing the judgment and unworthiness of others, it’s time to undress. Let it go. Be bold and brave and beautiful. Because you are.
