Every day is a new chance to make a difference in someone's life.

Yesterday I had the blessing of hugging a stranger. A woman who in the span of the last six months experienced her 50th Birthday, a tumor behind her eye, surgery and just recently, radiation. 
Unable to sleep (which seems to be a regular thing lately), I sat in the quiet of my living room at dawn, reflecting. 
Reflecting on my chance meeting with this woman from Denver. Reflecting on the many people close to me who are deep in the struggle and pain. Reflecting on my own struggles, which have been ever present. 
I closed my eyes and focused intently on my breathing. And I was overcome with the blessing of my breath and the opportunity that represents.

My breath means my heart is beating. My heart beating means I am living. And loving. Every day isn't easy. But every day is a choice and a chance. 
A chance to make a difference. A chance to love. A chance to make someone smile. A chance to make some feel heard and seen. A chance to remind someone they matter. 
And so today, I am making the choice to do just that. To share and be light. To make a difference. And to not squander one opportunity to make someone feel loved.
