Start of a new week already? Let's go, Falcons! 
 
Every Monday for the rest of the semester, we're going to feature a fall sports athlete. Up first, we have C1C Danielle Katz, CS-11, from our women's soccer team! 
 
Katz is from Potomac, Maryland, and started all games last year for the team. She had a save percentage of 72.9 and seven shutouts. Katz was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week in early September after a 3-0 shutout victory over Army. BEAT ARMY!  
 
She believes playing soccer for most of her life has shaped her into the person she is today. She said sports had challenged her mentally and physically, as well as forcing her to embrace uncomfortable situations. 
 
"My leadership on the soccer field translates significantly to the military leader I aspire to be. Soccer [made me] a vocal and confident leader, and this personal development through the years was instrumental to my military career here at USAFA," she said.  
 
Katz is taking the fall sports postponement in stride and staying positive. 
 
"Though my senior year will be unique, I am grateful and motivated to experience all of these landmarks with my friends and teammates at USAFA. With graduation in sight, we are all trying to keep an open mind and see the good in every situation," she said. 
 
Katz said she came to USAFA to challenge herself and take a different path toward a more impactful future. She's hoping to commission into the Space Force and serve as an acquisitions officer. #MotivationMonday #YourAcademy #StillFlying @af_falcons @af_wsoc
