Meet C1C Jisung Yi! #FutureofAviation
.
What attracted you to USAFA?
.
I came to USAFA because of all the opportunities it had to offer, especially in airmanship and research.
.
What's been your favorite experience related to the Aero research you've done?
.
My favorite experience with the Aero Department research program was a TDY trip to NASA Ames Research Center to understand how parachute wind tunnel testing worked. In the Aeronautics Lab Subsonic Wind Tunnel, my sponsor and I use a scaled model of a parachute to conduct our research. With the help of the program's sponsor US Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center, I witnessed a full-scale parachute test inside 80 feet by 120 feet wind tunnel at NASA Ames Center. The amount of detail that goes into each testing always amazes me.
.
What career field do you want/are you going to?
.
After graduation, I'll be working my way to become a pilot. I'm still undecided on which airframe I want to fly, but I would like to graduate USAF Test Pilot School and become a test pilot.
.
How do you think your Aero experience will contribute to your AF career?
.
As an aeronautical engineering student, I believe my understanding of airplanes will help me become a better pilot. In addition, the USAFA Test Pilot School class (AE456) does a wonderful job of modeling what USAF TPS looks like. Because of the test pilot's unique mission, AE456 reaffirmed my goal to be a test pilot.
