Happy Black History Month!🎉

At Kent Union we strive to acknowledge and celebrate the significant role Black Women, Men and Non-Binary Persons have played in shaping the cultural, economic, political and scientific landscapes of Britain - and globally ❤️

The theme of Black History Month 2023 is ‘Celebrating our Sisters, Saluting our Sisters, and Honouring Matriarchs of Movements’; there will be a particular focus on this during many of the events and projects running on campus this month 💛

There are dozens of events students an get involved in this month, from Nigerian artist Abolore Sobayo’s Ẹwá: Beauty Exhibition exhibition running in Keynes College, to a Black Student Market held at the Plaza! Check out our Black History Month webpage for all the events listings! (Link in bio) 💚

We’ve also launched ‘Black at Kent’, a dedicated space where the vibrant voices and experiences of Black students and staff within our Kent community take centre stage. Here, we celebrate diversity and provide a platform for individuals to share their unique experiences and family stories, or to celebrate, promote and showcase their Black-owned projects and businesses. Your stories, your words, your platform.
