Apple has announced that it has identified the source of the problem. “We have identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected,” Apple said in a statement, reported by The Guardian. 
 
The problem is caused by a software issue, so Apple said it is working on a new version of the iOS 17 software to address the overheating.
