Working with Rehabilitation horses is tricky

Like a layer of an onion, there is no linear line to work from.

There is so much more to a horse than dysfunctional movement.

An unbalanced horse is not in a reasonable frame of mind as it is vulnerable and unstable on its legs, making the horse easy prey

You got to start where you can begin.
This is the challenging part

- stable mind
- often requires stable balance

One does not work without the other - here is the chicken and the egg.

Start in an ideal situation :
A Happy and healthy horse is ready to start - that's like ground zero.

But starting with a disadvantage, like an unbalanced horse, means you start below ground zero and you need to get your horse up to happy healthy.

Here you start to help the horse to bring the body into balance and functional movement.

- each leg in the corner of the body
- all legs travelling in the same direction
- evenness left and right within reasons
- stiffness, the ability to bend
- hold a line of travel
- stumbling or short stepping
- rushing
- unable to have adjustability within the gait.
- stopping softly and able to walk on again

Posture changes relatively quickly - often, within a session, they go in and out of a good posture.

Building good muscle and maintaining good posture takes time and commitment.
