Your saddle, step by step. Day 4

There are usually two sets of flaps, and both have specific jobs to do. They protect the horse and rider from the girth straps and buckles.

The bottom set, or sweat flaps, form part of the panel, and may incorporate knee and/or thigh (calf) blocks. The top pair of flaps have a soft pad at the front to mold over the knee blocks, giving the rider more support. A monoflap saddle combines the sweat flap and saddle flap into one, using softer leathers.
