In our latest installment of Masked & Answered, Tyjah Johnson, a double major in psychology and medicine, health and society, shares how his virtual internship has helped him grow as a professional and find community throughout the pandemic:

"This semester, I’ve had the opportunity to conduct a virtual internship with the Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health, which is housed in the medical center. Through this role, I’ve been able to conduct a research project on the effects that global health research experiences have had on former medical students. It’s been a great way for me to get experience in an online format, and it’s also provided me a virtual community. On Fridays we have these virtual sessions where all the interns come together to talk about current events and other things pertaining to global health. We also lead professional development presentations where we teach fellow interns skills that may be useful to their own projects and future careers. This internship has been one of the highlights of this semester, and I’m thankful for all the opportunities and connections it has given me throughout the pandemic." – Tyjah Johnson, #VU2022
