Q: Why did you choose Vanderbilt?
A: I came to Vanderbilt because of the Curb Scholarship. It's a scholarship for creative enterprises. It came late in my senior year and made it possible for me to go here financially. I was just really excited to be coming to a place where I felt like I was going to have that support structure to do creative things and to get to enjoy a campus like this with all the opportunities and still be kinda close to home.

Q: What is one favorite aspect about Vanderbilt?
A: The part that always gets me, I guess, is the people and how much they care. Everybody on this campus wants to be a world-saver and a superhero. I mean, people just care about making a difference as much as possible in any way they can. It’s very much a campus of people who really want to do right by the Earth in a lot of ways. Ultimately, it’s about caring about something and trying to give it your best shot. I think what makes any campus special is the people, and I think Vanderbilt has a lot of really amazing humans.

Q: You’re a History and Secondary Education double major - what got you interested in both of those majors?
A: For me, when I came to Vanderbilt, I didn’t know what I wanted to study. But, ultimately, I found out the thing that is most important to me is storytelling in a way that’s both really enjoyable but also really responsible about how we do it. History to me is the closest thing you can get to a storytelling major. It’s about every story that humans have ever had and every story that matters and how we tie them all together, and I think education has been really beneficial because it lets me think about where did I first hear a lot of the stories I know... A lot of what I study is what’s the best way to tell a story, whether that’s to tell it in the funniest way possible or to tell it in the most serious way and really get people to feel the gravity of something.
