Q: What made you choose VU?
A: One of my friends made me realize it was possible to come to the U.S. He gave me two books: one big red ACT book, and another book that talked about the most popular colleges for European students to go to. Vandy seemed like a good social and academic fit.

Q: What do you love most about VU outside of the classroom?
A: The people, generally. A lot of the people here are interesting, very accomplished. One thing that’s different about universities in the UK is that to get into a top university you just need to have stellar grades. Here they use a holistic approach, so a lot of people here have excelled in other things too. The people I live with vary from horse riders, tennis players, rappers, strong academics, semi-professional archers. A lot of people here have done incredible things.

Q: What have you been involved with on campus?
A: Mainly, I’ve been a part of VINES (Vanderbilt Innovation and Entrepreneurship Society). One of the reasons I came to the U.S. was the entrepreneurial community. I joined VINES and we managed to really change it around and now it’s growing very quickly, so I’m very excited about that.

Q: What did you do this past summer?
A: I was a product management intern for an intro tech start-up in London. I worked with other developers and designers and I led the creation of a new product for the company, an internal tool. It was to manage users, clients, and a database, because we have data on 13k+ small businesses in the UK, so we started that to manage the data more easily.

Q: What’s the most impactful thing you’ve experienced here?
A: Freshman year, because I’m an international student and we typically don't go home over breaks, I took an American friend up on his offer to go home with them, despite not really knowing him. It was such an interesting experience, and I’m very thankful to his parents for opening up their home to me. I’ve found that people here are very welcoming.
