First-year student Quint Gfroerer fell in love with Vanderbilt as soon as he visited campus. #HumansofVanderbilt #VU2023

Q: Why did you choose Vanderbilt? 
A: I was looking for an academic institution where I could get the best education available. I toured Vanderbilt and instantly fell in love with it. The people here seemed nicer and more supportive… everyone wanted everyone else to succeed. Then there is the location, because I’m from Atlanta and it’s only a four-hour drive. And then the campus is beautiful, I just love the campus.

Q: What are some of your favorite spots on campus? 
A: Here definitely at Rand, but I also like these tables… most Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays, after eating breakfast, I’ll come to one of these tables to study just because I like being outside. Alumni Lawn is right there, it’s just really pretty. I’m probably going to move inside when winter comes, but I’m enjoying it for the time-being. All the green space, the trees… It’s a really beautiful campus. I also really like Central Library, it’s a great place to study. I like Commons, Commons is cool too. 
Q: What is one aspect of Vanderbilt that you really like? 
A: So I’m doing Vanderbilt Student Volunteers for Science (VSVS) this year, and I’m really excited to do it. Basically, every Wednesday, we’re going to go to a middle school and teach. We go to the same middle school, same class every week and teach this class a mini science lesson. We do cool little experiments to go along with the mini science lesson. I thought it was really cool because when I was in elementary school in Atlanta, there was something similar called Junior Achievement and that was a lot of fun.
