Born in Harlem, #CicelyTyson became an Icon as a model and more notably in the acting world.  Ms. Cicely portrayed strong African American women and was known for turning down roles that she felt demeaned those that looked like her. 
Her career spanned seven decades and she appeared in  over 100 different stage, tv and film roles...championed civil rights and women’s groups...and became an inspiration to many.
