It’s #WorldBreastFeedingWeek and another opportunity to lend our voices to the importance of breastfeeding. 

Breastfeeding is the best way to provide young infants with the essential nutrients required for growth and development. Breast Milk is the ideal food for infants as it is safe, clean and acts as the babies’ first vaccine, protecting them against many common childhood illnesses.

For moms, breastfeeding can help with quick recovery from childbirth. It also reduces the risk for certain breast and ovarian cancer and weight loss after delivery.

It is essential we collectively protect breastfeeding.

Stepping up begins with awareness and understanding of its role in good nutrition, food security, and the reduction of inequalities​.
