N576 billion ($1.2 billion) is lost to medical tourism yearly in Nigeria – 5,000 patients per month (60,000 patients per year) = $20,000 spent per trip to access medical treatment abroad.

60% of medical tourism abroad is to access treatment in four key specialties – Oncology (cancer treatment), Orthopedics, Nephrology (including dialysis) and Cardiology.
