For this week’s story of #HowWeMetAtRU, we have Monica & Rob Hollenbeck! Told by marianh0106 ✨

“My Rutgers experience would be very different if these two did not meet at RU--actually, it wouldn’t exist. Neither would I! My parents are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, and I wanted to share their story in honor of it. 

They were introduced to each other by their respective best friends (who are also married to this day!) in September of the 1990 school year. According my Mom’s friend, my Dad liked my Mom immediately because she was the first girl he’d ever met who liked sci-fi and other nerdy things. My Dad was introduced to her as Robin Hood, which she thought was really funny. 

Not only did they meet at RU, my parents tied the knot here! They took their wedding photos on the kissing bridge and had their ceremony in Vorhees chapel! They raised me and my younger sibling visiting the campus and going to Thomas Sweets for my mom’s favorite Heath bar blend-in. Clearly, I was destined to become a Scarlet Knight too :) Happy silver anniversary to my amazing parents!”
