Jerry S. Rawls is a true pioneer in both engineering and business. He not only co-founded and led Finisar Corporation to great success but also stands out for his remarkable commitment to giving back. He has dedicated himself to service and leadership through generous philanthropic efforts, leaving a lasting legacy of positive change.

Rawls has gone above and beyond to support TexasTech. In 2001, he donated $25 million to transform the university's business college into the now Jerry S. Rawls College of Business, which has since become one of the best academic entities in the nation. His generous gift continues to enable the college to focus on excellence in research and education while preparing a new generation of business leaders.

Alongside his contributions to the business college, Rawls generously supported TheRawlsCourse's creation, played a vital role in Texas Tech's billion-dollar Vision & Tradition campaign, and recently helped establish the Jerry S. Rawls Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Awards to honor exceptional faculty and doctoral students.
