Cody and I spent a week in Japan, 2 nights in Tokyo and 4 nights in Yokohama. I honestly would not recommend visiting Japan in August due to the heat, but because of the event we were attending, we didn’t really have a choice. Here’s a few things we did before flying out to Japan that really helped ease our travel anxieties:
 
💴 We picked up Japanese yen before flying to Japan. Did you know you can order foreign currency through your bank? (Most banks, not all, but I’d check with your bank first). I use US Bank, and was able to order currency through the phone app, and picked up the currency the next business day at my local bank branch. Yes, you can always exchange at the airport too, but it’s not always the best exchange rate.

🚆 💳 We added the most used transit card in Japan, Suica, onto our Apple wallets and loaded it with money before we got there. You can use this card on their metro system, buses, drugstores, 7 Elevens, and so much more! It was like Apple Pay and was so easy to use, you just tap with your phone and you’ve paid ☑️ 

🛜 We ordered a pocket wifi for the week for $60. There are several companies that provide this service, we went with Japan Wireless. I went online and ordered a wifi device to be picked up at the airport the day we got there. It was super easy, we were never without internet, and I didn’t have to pay cell roaming fees. I was on Google Maps constantly looking at directions.
 
Preparing yourself before going to a foreign country (especially one that doesn’t speak English as their main language) can alleviate so much stress before you even get to your destination! What travel tips do you have when traveling abroad? Until next time Japan 🇯🇵
