1. What is your favorite part about being involved with Latinos Unidos (LUCU) at Clemson?⁣
⁣
My favorite thing about my involvement in LUCU (cu_lucu) is the opportunity it provides for sharing my culture on campus and building connections. Ever since I joined as a first-year student, it has added an extra spark to my time at Clemson University. Being surrounded by my culture and Hispanic peers keeps me in touch with my Hispanic roots. LUCU isn't just an organization; it feels like a family. This year, I'm serving as the President of LUCU, and I enjoy working with my fellow e-board members to plan events that bring people closer to the Hispanic community and culture. It's really rewarding to see the Hispanic community on campus grow and witness non-Hispanic students taking an interest in what we do.⁣

2. What other clubs or organizations are you involved in?⁣

I am also the President of the Latin Dance Club this semester while also involved in ALPFA, SHPE, FIRST, and MAPS. Each one of these organizations has contributed to my amazing experience at Clemson. They have enhanced my journey to graduation and have put many helpful people in my path.⁣

3. How do you celebrate your culture during Hispanic Heritage Month?⁣
⁣
During Hispanic Heritage Month, I start off by celebrating Mexico Independence Day, which falls on September 16th. During this celebration, I gather with friends and family and eat some of our favorite traditional dishes. Throughout the remainder of the month, I actively participate in a diverse array of events thoughtfully organized by the Gantt Center, LUCU, ALPFA, and other Hispanic/Latinx organizations here at Clemson. These organizations host events that bring Hispanic culture onto our campus, creating an inclusive atmosphere where all those interested can celebrate our heritage. Engaging in these on and off-campus experiences is a source of cultural enrichment and ensures that I remain deeply connected to my origins.
