Surface Studio > Brand development > @surface.studio works closely with architects, designers and builders to assist them with design details pertaining to stone and tile. I am passionate about all types of design, so I was pumped to work with these folks. I’ve had the pleasure of designing for other designers a few times and it’s always a fun collab to work with like minded people. It was a welcomed challenge to come up with a brand that represented the caliber of work of @surface.studio .

As seen in the workmanship of @surface.studio, the logo needed to represent quality and refinement, while still being confident and raw. The goal was to create a brand that would be timeless and stack up next to any of the leading brands in the industry. It was specifically requested by my client to create a logo that was based more on a font, rather than something illustrative and graphic, so it was important to create balance while using different elements. Although the logo may seem simple, the selected font weight, letter spacing and use of a block graphic with a raw edge, were specifically used to represent the craftsmanship and use of materials that Surface Studio is known for. The aesthetic is solid but still leaves room for imagination which supports the concept of “studio” in the name. Different logo variations were created to be used for different applications, to allow for some creative uses. Since the workmanship and products of Surface Studio speaks for themselves, the logo does it’s job as an identifier, but the real branding has already been created by the design and craftsmanship that Surface Studio has already established. This makes my job that much easier to make them look good. Straight up! Lol.
