𝕀𝕥’𝕤 ℂ𝕣𝕚𝕔𝕜𝕖𝕥 𝔻𝕒𝕪!! 🦗 
We are going to do our best to pay tribute to our Cricket, knowing that words are probably not enough to explain the collision course that landed her on the Tribe, nor the incredible impact she’s had on the program.

It’s not everyday that the transfer portal features a college graduate with 3 years of eligibility left, and had it not been for a decades long relationship Shacks had with a college coach in Vermont, we’d have likely never have landed her.  Our decision to make an offer to Cricket came after a mere 30 minute zoom without ever having seen her even play.  We immediately realized this was one special human and the entire staff looked at each other and said “slam dunk!” As with many athletic careers, hers did not progress as envisioned. Multiple knee injuries were the reason for all of her remaining eligibility from UVM,  but also what ultimately brought her Tribe career to an end a year too soon. 

As we sat with her in office this past Spring, it was through tears we all came to the realization that even though her mind and heart were saying YES, her body was saying no.  We could tell, in classic Cricket fashion, she felt that she was letting everyone down, especially us coaches who brought her here to obtain her MBA and play for 2 years.  We assured her that if we had a crystal ball predicting her fate here, we’d have 100% made the same decision, and that’s the honest truth. 🥹

The impact she’s had on our program is long lasting, as she was able to seamlessly transition from a player to coaching role this season.  She is as grounded and kind and introspective as she is driven and competitive.  I believe the entire group of players and coaches would agree they’ve never met anyone quite like Cricket.  Her smile and resounding laugh uplift everyone’s spirits on a daily basis—even JD whose Apple Watch “loud environment” alarm goes off sitting next to her during games! 😂

The coaching world needs more Crickets and while we hope she chooses “passion over paycheck”she will crush whatever path she takes. Most importantly she is now TRIBE FOR LIFE, and the Tribe is so so Lucky. Love You Cricket! 🫶🏼
