From janellemonae: “As i played my final tour date for “The Age of Pleasure” last night, I couldn’t help but think about the album that inspired it all. I wanna thank you f.a.m. for sharing your posts about how the album has made you feel. Sharing vids and pictures of you and your loved ones making this a soundtrack to your life. I always think of you when I’m writing music. Always. I want to thank my incredible community of writers, engineers, musicians, artists, producers, muses who all played a part in making this album feel like a sonic oasis. I stand 100 toes down on amplifying your talent. 
This is our love letter to the diaspora. This is what it feels like and sounds like when I feel safe to explore 1000 versions of myself and when the people I love feel safe. There is no pleasure without SAFETY. This is what it feels like to center JOY. To center FREEDOM. To center FUN. To center COMMUNITY. This is what it feels like to respond to LOVE. Love of one’s self. Love of each other. PLEASURE is indeed a state of mine and yours. Thank you.
