Get there early: With just a few other people on the scene, making intros is way less intimidating. And as others arrive, you’re already part of the in-crowd.

Make your name badge prominent, readable, and accurate: Pretty obvious. But conversations can advance more quickly when there are no distractions—like repeating your name.

Volunteer to help organize the event. This one’s especially effective for introverts because it means people will need to approach you. And that makes it easier to network.

Practice active listening. You’ve got a limited amount of time to truly connect. Showing genuine interest in people and talking about shared experiences will spark deeper conversations. It also gives you a natural reason to follow up.
