Numerous states are holding Facebook and Instagram accountable for the mental health challenges faced by American teens. The lawsuit argues that while Meta claims its platforms are designed for young users' well-being, they continue to develop features known to foster addictive and compulsive social media use among young individuals.  
With Facebook and Instagram collectively reaching nearly 6 billion users worldwide, a substantial portion being children, this issue affects almost every teenager, with around 95% of those aged 13-17 using social media. Employment attorney Andrew Lieb says Instagram and Facebook promote body dysmorphia among teen girls.
