i’ve been thinking, and i want to talk about balancing both ED recovery and having athletic goals. when balancing these two goals, it’s important to remember that ED recovery comes before ANYTHING else. mental health is just like physical health and is just as important(if not more). at the beginning of my recovery, i took time off to let my body rest, but now it’s about knowing how to balance both! and with that comes holding yourself accountable and asking yourself tough questions about your specific goal each training session.

reaching big goals in your sport short and long term requires a lot of hard work… but it also requires a lot of REST. i know resting can be hard when having an unhealthy relationship with food/exercise, so i want to remind you today that if resting is challenging because of the fear of not moving enough, losing fitness, or needing to “earn your food,” then you need to take a step back, take that rest you know you need and remind yourself of your TRUE goals. success and longevity in this sport, LONGTERM.

today i had to remind myself of this very thing… i’ve had a huge load of training over the past week and never got in my full rest day… so i decided to take today easier and pull back the volume to let my mind/body rest. this made me feel guilty and lazy. i then realized that was my ED talking because AMBER knows that rest is exactly what my body needed today to help me become a better athlete. so, instead of forcing my body to go through another large training day… i decided to let my body recover❤️ and i’m reminding you to do the same🫶🏼
