Tommy Pham would very much like to be excluded from this narrative 💭
•
Tommy Pham had a chance to make World Series history in the Arizona Diamondbacks' 9-1 win over the Texas Rangers last night, after becoming just the 18th player ever to go 4-for-4 in a World Series game. ‼️
•
Diamondbacks fans were outraged when his shot to become the first player to go 5-for-5 in the World Series was cut short after manager Tory Lovullo pulled him from the lineup at the top of the ninth, but it appears things aren't quite what they seem. 👀
•
This morning Pham set the record straight, commenting on an Instagram post to let the world know he asked Lovullo if Jace Peterson could hit for him, saying he wanted his "dawg" to get his first World Series at bat. 👏
•
Arizona was already up 7-1 when Pham got subbed out Saturday, and Peterson scored a few at-bats later to help lock up the 9-1 victory. ⚾
•
Pham wasn't the only stand out player last night, Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly allowed only three hits over seven innings. His 22 called strikes were the most for a pitcher in the World Series since 2019. 😤
•
It's nice to see players remember there's no I in team. 😊 #thegist
