What’s your best pitching horror story?

Here’s mine…

One day I was in a Pilates class and I spotted the editor of a famous British magazine in the front row.

Yes, I thought. They would be a good logo to add to my sticker collection on my website!

The class was fun! I was pumped. 

Now was my chance. 

Sod blasting emails that never get read! Let’s jump the queue. 

So at the end of the class I walked over and introduced myself.

And then I went for the killer line:

“I believe you may be the editor of Harper’s Bazaar. I’d love to ask you for your advice on something if I may.”

She looked at me, a little stunned and then smiled.

I’m the editor of Elle NOT Harper’s Bazaar.

And then I remembered.

F**k. 

The Harper’s Bazaar editor was at least 10, maybe 15 years older than the lady standing in front of me.

Sh*t. Sh*t. Sh*t.

They both sported similar short haircuts but that was about it.

Needless to say I never got my business featured into Elle or indeed Harper’s Bazaar.
