Kids, dogs and other costumed creatures ambled in Ashland’s Halloween parade Tuesday afternoon, past thousands of spectators filling downtown sidewalks and occasionally jumping into the moving cast of characters.

The parade was jumpstarted by 50 members of the Ashland Middle School band blasting the dance-pop synth-rock classic “Ghostbusters.” As the procession moved from the Ashland Public Library on East Main Street a half-mile to the downtown plaza area, the most vocal of the swaying crowd yelled out “I ain’t afraid of no ghosts.”
