1. Add some personality
A bit like being down the pub, Social Media is a place for people to engage and connect, share ideas and thoughts. Some businesses fail to show any personality and therefore miss out on being unique and personal. But this can help you stand out from competitors. So we don’t need to see Great Aunt Janet’s 80th celebrations but we do want to see what you’re interested in that aligns with your values and we want to get to know you.

2. Make some scroll stopping content
We’re bombarded with images and videos so it’s easy to scroll by the usual run of the mill stuff. Add some interest, value and originality to your content. Social media algorithms also reward engaging content. The more people interact with your post, the more the platform will promote that post.

3. Post consistently.
Most social media algorithms reward accounts that post consistently so try and set a schedule for posting consistently and keep that algorithm happy.

4. Respond to comments and questions.
Small business owners often struggle with time to engage with questions or reply to comments from followers which means you could be missing out on potential leads and new customers.

5. Work out your audience
If you’re trying to speak to EVERYONE, you’re speaking to NO ONE! Focus on who you want to attract with your posts

Social media can be a fantastic and cost-effective marketing tool for small businesses and can help secure new customers by building brand awareness.
